The Battle-Fane at Bloodhollow

The Battle-Fane at Bloodhollow

- The first of the Chardun Fist compounds; Bloodhollow was a gift by the former Earl of Granz (Southern Jandalore) to the church of Chardun. At one time it was a secluded retreat where nobles went for hunting, contemplation and to remove themselves from the rigors of court life.
- In the year 130 AV The Earl, having had his son’s life saved by a battle-priest of Chardun, gifted this holding to the church and bade that his house pay for its upkeep for as long as the church should have use of it.

- With King Virduk and Grand Vizier Anteas urging the head of Calastia’s church to assist the nation’s military endeavors, the Lord Dominion of Chardun, Alvesis Kolf, decided to dedicate an order of monks for use by the military only. The Order was christened the Fists of Chardun, or more formally The Order of Chardun’s Fist. Bloodhollow, due to its remote and isolated position was chosen to host this order.
- For the last 15 years a slow trickle of diverse fighting monks has risen from the number of men and women trained at Bloodhollow. 90% of those who are chosen by the order fail to become Fists of Chardun – the fanaticism, dedication and mental and physical fortitude required is simply too severe for the common person.
- Since the founding of Bloodhollow, two other fortifications have been funded to train members of Chardun’s Fist (Dragon’s Forge in Turrows and Earthfist in Chandalvine); as these monks continue to distinguish themselves as loyal and dependable soldiers the funding filtered toward recruiting and training will only increase.
- Monasteries dedicated to the Order of chardun’s Fist are known as Battle Fanes. Battle-fanes are led by a decorated military officer, generally one who has served for a majority of his life, has seen plenty of battle in his day and who has levels in Cleric of Chardun, Monk of Chardun, Blackguard or a combination of two or three of these. The leader of Battle-fanes use their former military rank in their titles. The current leader of Bloodhollow is Fist-General Drako Koviir.
- Ranks of the Fists are as follows:
- Disciple
- Devoted (Brother or sister)
- Dedicated (Brother or Sister)
- Soldier
- Once a soldier is deemed ready for military life he is bade to leave the Fane and earn his place in the military; often this has already been arranged for him and he will find transport to his squad awaiting him. Once a monk leaves the Fane, either having completed training or failed in his training, any rank within the fane is stripped. He now belongs to The King’s war machine and will adopt whatever rank he has within his new unit. Much is expected from these soldiers and those who bring disgrace to the Order are often dealt with by one of the Order’s agents.
