For the Glory of the Black Dragon
These lower reaches of the mighty Kelder Mountains are rugged with passes and and valleys often choked with debris from the many landslides caused by sundering and spasms of the earth as it was rent during the divine wars.
The plant life is abundant, with lush swaths of grass covering many of the hills and dominating the rocky valleys; trees grow in scattered copses, though some peaks are completely devoid of anything larger than grasses or scrub thickets. Still, bare rock is ever-present, often having been thrust upward from deep within the earth, as if the rocky bones of the mountains were pushing forth from within.
During the warmer months streams and rivers flow in abundance as the melt-off from higher elevations sends sheets of water downward and the rainy weather of these months leave many of these waterways as major arteries into or out of the mountain’s heart – but only a reliable course a few months out of the year.
Mountain goats and hunting cats from higher elevations can be found here, as can most any animals found in a temperate climate. The true threat of the foothills are the vast number of titanspawn races laird in the nearby peaks of the Kelders. They come to the lower lands to raid, hunt or expand their territories and are always eager to waylay or abduct members of the divine races.
