A highly cosmopolitan and liberal city, particularly compared to others in the duchy of Golehest. Delis is a sprawling port city that accommodates a high volume of seafaring traffic and is therefore a mixing pot of various races, cultures and customs. This can be seen in all aspects of Delis life from the architecture to the varied dining establishments. In some ways Delis has a feel that is ultimately un-Calastian, it’s drinking establishments are many and open all hours, it’s service people cater to the needs of the large number of visiting foreigners and sailors and its laws are relatively lax as compared to the rest of the nation.
Despite all of this, Delis is home to the Calastian Navy and has a high volume of soldiers and sailors who serve the crown and the local duke; the soldiers and sailors stationed here seem to like the city as it is however and should the duke seek to actively make changes there is the potential for some friction from within.
Delis is known to have bustling markets and nearly everything is said to be for sale, from slaves to illicit drugs to all manner of black market goods; it is not ideal, but it is unavoidable in a city of this size with such an influx of trade passing through on a daily basis.
